MY STORY

An incredible freebirth was not the story I wish I was able to tell for both of my children. For the birth of my son, Romeo, I went against my heart desires of having a homebirth because I looked at the circumstances in front of me, instead of stepping out in faith. Unfortunately, the birth fell into the category of traumatic, avoidable and unnecessary emergency caesarean section due to the ever so popular cascade of interventions.

That negative birth experience set the tone for how I entered motherhood; feeling hopeless, anxious, betrayed and lacking any confidence in my abilities to nurture my son. In the same breath, my sweet little boy had a few complications and hurdles we had to get through because of the trauma during birth.

I never gave up on my dream birth, and once I got myself together (the best I could) I immediately sought to absorb every single bit of evidence-based research to equip myself for next time.

Then, of course, along came Grace.

Fast forward a few months postpartum, I had an interaction that led to the immediate decision that it was time to take another leap of faith and take part in a journey I never thought I would have the courage to take part in. Joyfully serving women and their families in the transformation that is birth? My cup overflows.

I cannot wait to meet you!
